Camcorder Video: Shooting and Editing Techniques Review

Camcorder Video: Shooting and Editing Techniques

I found this to be a terific manual for using your camcorder and editing your videos. The only drawback is that there isn't a sequel in print at this time! More! I film, produce, host and edit a local access television show and this book helped tremendously. It is written to address the beginners questions as well as the "imtermediate" level. The local access television station is ordering more for manuals. Deborah Goodell, Critter Connection

I'm a professional wedding photographer and have been for 5+ years. One area that I continue to try to improve in my craft is lighting. For the longest time I considered myself a available light shooter - and I still do, when I can. But what I learned from Bob is that you can achieve the look of available light with a flash, if only you know how to do it!
This book is very easy to read. He provides great explanations on how to get the results he got in the sample images he puts in the book. He doesn't use a ton of geeky lingo, with complex mathematical equations to get his point across. He tells you what you can do, shows you sample images, and diagrams as to where the camera, subject and lights were when he took the shot. Though there is TONS to learn in this book (for those looking for a different look at lighting), he doesn't bore you like a textbook.
I really enjoyed reading and learning from Bob in this book and would strongly recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn more about different lighting techniques.

Rolando Gomez's Posing Techniques for Glamour Photography Review

Rolando Gomez's Posing Techniques for Glamour Photography

I have read a few of Rolando's books. I have actually shot with a few of his favorite models. Rolando is good...no doubt. The book is well written and offers many points and tips for any photographer interested in Glamour or not. My thing about this book is that I'm not into this type of photography so I think that tainted my review to just 4 stars instead of 5. I just want to be honest!
As I have stated in numerous reviews, the price makes this book worth it. I have hundreds of dollars worth of Amherst Media books and it's for a reason....they make EXCELLENT resource books for WHEN I want ideas or need them. I read them, critique them, implement numerous ideas, and put sticky notes on pages for future reference.
Definitely take a look at this book. You WILL like it!

Literally working from head to toe, the images in this essential guide to glamour photography demonstrate how to flatter models' assets and downplay any perceived flaws when there is no clothing to hide behind. Detailed instructions on recreating classic poses and a thorough discussion of the three main sections of the body-upper body, lower body, and backside-are coupled with ample photographic examples. Abundant illustrations reveal how to manipulate a model's tresses, garner the best possible views of the face, and visually enhance the appearance of the breasts, arms, abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, calves, feet, and toes. Best-practice techniques for maximizing curves and minimizing bulk will make each subject look her personal best. Because of the intimate nature of nude and semi-nude photo shoots, suggestions for easing into the shoot while staying on task and ensuring a subject's comfort are also discussed.
