(More customer reviews)This text is a must read for any person seriously interested in hypnosis. If you do not already know the story of Milton Erickson, check the Erickson Foundation web site to learn more. He was the person primarily responsible for the research which recognized hypnosis as the effective therepeutic modality it is. The collated works in this volume span many years, much of it predates 1959, the year the American Medical Association accepted hypnosis as a legitimate practice. Many of the papers are the origin of the common tales and metaphors used by hypnotists/NLP trainers. This text is clinical in nature, so one must have some background in in one of the follwing: psychiatry/ medicine/ therapy/hypnosis/NLP. If you want to understand the processes which enable hypnosis to change people......buy this book.

Project Management: Planning and Control Techniques, 3rd Edition Review

(More customer reviews)This is an excellent treatment of the vast body of knowledge that comprises project management. The author does a great job of explaining all the principles of project management in sufficient enough detail for a new PM. Of course, it is not a thorough, in-depth treatment of the field and the author makes no such claims. There are examples and exercises used throughout that make the book even more valuable.
Even though this is an especially useful book for new project managers, I think even experienced ones will find some benefit by having it in their PM library. Refer to Dr. Harold Kerzner's book 'Project Management - A Systems Approach to Planning, Scheduling, and Controlling' for an advanced treatment of the subject. Refer to Rita Mulcahy's 'PMP Exam Prep' to prepare for the PMP exam. A good book for beginners is 'The Little Black Book of Project Management' by Michael Thomsett.
The only book I would say is comparable to this one at an Intermediate level is 'The Complete Idiot's Guide to Project Management' by Sunny Baker and Kim Baker. It is a slightly better book and less than a third of the price of this book! Bottom line, you can't go wrong with this book if you have the money to spend on it.

(More customer reviews)I am always extremely leary of biochemistry and/or bioconjugate books because if you're looking for a specific answer, you're not going to find it in a book. Instead, you have to bother those with experience and learn from their techniques. HOWEVER, this book is an exception in the highest regard! I was able to easily derive a surface chemistry protocol in around 10 minutes, and it only took me that long because I was fascinated on how direct this book was. Basically here's what you get:
1) Easy to read/decipher information
2) Fantastic Index
3) Quick answers that I couldn't even find on Google
Best of all, in my opinion, is that each section is not prefaced with the past history of who/what/where/when/why, which although sometimes interesting, gives you no assistance in the lab.
